Description: Wool Navajo Indian Rug Native American Patterned Weaving Vintage 52 1/2" x 32" Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Navajo woven wool rug. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This rug measures approximately 52 1/2 inches long by 32 inches wide (excluding the corner tassels). It has an attractive, patterned design in pleasing colors. Unpacked, it weighs 3 pounds 1.0 ounce. This would be a nice addition to a collection of Native American art, or it would look great in a southwest decor. Identification This Navajo rug is vintage, but the exact age is not known. It is from a northern California collector's estate. Condition The rug looks good overall, as shown. It looks nice overall, even though it is not in perfect condition. One side has some color fading when compared with the other side (please see Photos 1 and 2). As shown in Photo 6, there is a small (about 1/2 inch by 1 3/4 inches) loss/hole area at one end. At one corner, there is a 1 1/2 inch long area of missing edge wrapping (visible in Photo 1, at upper right corner). There are scattered small loss areas where the foundation threads show (please see examples in Photos 4, 7, 8, and 9), which is less pronounced on the faded side than on the side with the darker colors. At one end, adjacent to the edge wrapping, there are some broken yarn pieces (please see example areas in Photo 8). The rug has no foul odors like those from pets or cigarettes, but it does have a faint mustiness if you smell it up close.
