Description: US ARMY AIR FORCE MAP AERONAUTICAL PILOT CHART WW2 1944 OLD NR Up for your consideration is this really nice authentic WWII U.S. Army Air Force aeronautical chart This is an actual map that was made and likely used during World War II. This one map was part of an estate of over 150 maps, we will be listing them over the course of the next few weeks, so please be sure to see ALL the other MAPS we currently have listed, save us as a favorite seller and stop back on occasion to see the new ones as well as the other militaria that will be listed. FEATURES: Authentic WWII air chart, ordered by the commanding General of the Army Air Force, and prepared by the U.S. Army Map Service. It also says that "this chart is prepared for use at night under white, ultra-violet, red, and amber lights. At the top boarder it says in red letters " Not for sale or distribution For use by War and Navy Department Agencies Only". It is printed on heavy paper and was printed with fine detail and richly colored ink. The back is a giant legend to the map on the front. It is filled with information about all the symbols used, as well as the particular location of this sectional map on the globe. ADD. INFO: Please note this map was folded with the standard 4 creases and will come to you folded, as it was originally - shipped Ground Advantage mail in a large bubble mailer with a cardboard insert. BRAND: AAF AERONAUTICAL CHART ON THE BACK: It has a complete explanation of all the symbols used - as well as a world map pilotage chart index, showing the location (on the globe) of all the sectional map plates available. SIZE: It measures 29" wide x 22" tall COLOR: The border and back have taken on a bit of an "antiqued" hue (compared to when they were new) but the color section of the map is still very rich and vibrant, showing deep earth tones such as greens for forested areas, blue for water and varying shades of tan for arid areas. TYPE: Collectible Militaria, Aeronautical Map/Chart. For those of you that have an interest in genuine U.S. COPYRIGHT/DATE: 1942 COUNTRY: USA Made In America MATERIAL: Heavyweight paper MODEL#: MAP PLATE # 674 CREASES: Aside from the standard 4 folds (once longwise then 3 more folds to make it 1/8th full size), This particular map also had a 2" crease along the lower right corners edge. TEARS: Two - 1/4" near the upper right corner (top edge) One - 1/8" upper right edge and one - 1/4" on the top edge near the center. CRINKLES: Some very slight crinkles on about 50% of the top edge. STAINS: Slight discoloration - upper right corner COLOR: Bright and Crisp. VERY Nice transition of colors from pale to deep greens and from tan to blue. PLACE: GODAVARI RIVER INDIA, BAY OF BENGAL CONDITION: It comes to you in overall Excellent Condition. The only mentionables are some slight wear from use and time, as detailed above - in the description and seen in the pictures. Upon close inspection some very minor signs of use or wear, but no serious flaws. Obviously used but kept in great conditional and well cared for. Expected normal signs of wear but no abuse.
