The Place of the Lion was the third published of CW's metaphysical novels (1931); this "supernatural thriller" documents the curious notion of what happens when Platonic archetypes begin springing up in the English countryside, drawing out the ideal (good and ill) characteristics of people around them. Sounds like a tale for the 21st Century. Williams is sometimes referred to as 'the oddest Inkling' - in reference to the literary fellowship that most famously included C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
