The year was 1969, Crosby, Stills & Nash had released their debut album and were ready to begin their first (loosely organized) tour. From the very first shows (in Chicago, August 16th, 1969), Neil Young was already on board. The band's second concert ever would become legendary - The Woodstock Festival, on August 18th. A week later, the band would play their third venue (5 straight nights) at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre. Then... on September 13th & 14th, CSNY would travel to Big Sur, California to play their fourth ever venue - an event that was captured on film and later released in theaters as "Celebration At Big Sur." Which is where this series of original images was taken. Three stunning live shots of the great Stephen Stills in action (with David Crosby & Neil Young seen in the background), on the first day of the festival. The massive white guitar is Stills' prized Gretsch White Falcon (a "ridiculously expensive guitar" - labeled "a dream machine" by the company literature of the day).
