Youth work actions were created during the NOB, and were especially popular after the end of the Second World War and aimed to restore and build the economy, infrastructure, scientific, sports, cultural and entertainment facilities in Yugoslavia. In the first post-war federal labor actions, millions of young people built highways, railways, factories, even entire cities. The largest federal labor actions took place in the period from 1946 to 1952. April 1st was celebrated as the day of Youth Labor Actions in the SFRY, the day when in 1946 preparations began to organize the construction of the Brčko-Banovići railway. The young people got up early for the actions and spent the first part of the day doing physical work on the field. After finishing work, they returned to the settlement where they engaged in sports, cultural and ideological-political activities. Young people could attend cinema, photo and radio courses, receive a diploma for passing the sports referee exam, and learn to drive a moped, car or tractor. Later, courses in cosmetics, ikebana, traffic culture, as well as electro-welding and typing courses were added. These activities were organized as part of the "technical education" of young people, which was carried out by the institutions of the republic where the action was held.
