I am a Fifth Generation clock expert with 50 plus years at the bench, trained and schooled from my German ancestors who came to this Country in the 1850's. I had a brick and mortar shop but retired in 2014 only to find out my trade as a craftsman was needed badly and decided to work out of my home shop and continue to do what I do best and repair ALL types of clocks. I repaired a tower clock for a nearby city as part of my many experiences. The price includes but is not limited to the steps taken to bring your movement back to excellent running condition. What is done upon my receipt of your movement is inspection of the shipping condition and movement inspection and noted by pictures taken and in any case of shipping damage it will be reported to you before any further work is done. If after inspecting the movement for repairs and rebuilding, any damage or excessive rebuilding is necessary, you will be notified of such and an estimate over and above the amount paid will be given to you for your approval. If at that point you decide that the repair cost is more than you anticipated, I will pack up your movement and return it to you at YOUR EXPENSE and refund the difference back to you after you receive your movement. If all goes well then complete disassembly will take place and an ultrasonic cleaning in approved clock cleaning solution will take place. It must be noted that after cleaning and drying if any cosmetic changes take place on the movement, I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I do not polish plates or remove excessive rust as part of my rebuilding, if rust is present in any excessive amounts on the steel parts I may refuse to work on it as too much pitting and wear will be cause for an unsuccessful outcome. So if this is an issue with your movement please inquire BEFORE buying my services. After cleaning comes inspection of the pivot holes and bushings installed where needed and any pivot straightening to be done. I use a Bergeon bushing machine and bergeon bushings where necessary to bring the tolerance back to original or closer. It is then assembled, oiled and greased with approved synthetic products to promote good lubrication on surfaces that wear. After assembly it is tested on my test rack for a minimum of 3 days and then packed well and shipped back to you insured. In between every step, inspection is made to assure that you are getting the services you paid for and an exceptional running movement. I do urge those who DO NOT have good mechanical abilities to think twice before taking on the task of removing the movement and most of all, being able to reinstall the movement with its many adjustments that may be necessary to make the clock function properly.
