Released in 1990, the 260x3 retailed for $375, that's over $900 today!The Sonamp 260x3 is a high-current, 60-watt-per-channel stereo amplifier with a number of features that make it well suited for custom installations. It is designed to drive difficult loads, particularly the low impedances presented by multiple parallel-connected remote speakers. For convenience in operating multizone systems, the 260x3 has push-buttons on its front panel for individual activation of its three pairs of speaker outputs. And the stereo line-input jacks on the rear apron are paralleled with a second pair for linking ("daisy-chaining") additional amplifiers.The Sonamp 260x3 is designed to drive 2-ohm loads without overheating or distortion (three paralleled 8-ohm speakers represent a load of 2.7 ohms). Its discrete output transistors are mounted on heat sinks, convection-cooled by air entering holes in the bottom plate and exiting through holes in the top cover.This example is the earlier 230x3 version with square buttons that were replaced with round buttons on later releases. Packing a big punch in a small package, it weighs just under 17 lbs and measures 16-3/4 x 3-1/2 x 12-1/2 inches (WHD). By "The Best, Ltd." policy this unit will be double-boxed for secure shipment. We do offer free pick-up for paid items in the Denver metro area. Condition:This amp is in "Very Good" condition with minor signs of use and a nice, clean front panel. Aside from a few light scuffs to the lid, the only other thing worth mentioning is just a few tiny nicks to the front panel, some too faint to make out well in the pics. All the original buttons are present and complete with the exception of the power button which had gone missing. So we searched our parts stash and found the close match pictured. The original feet and attached AC cord are also in excellent condition. The manual has gone missing but no worries, it can be found online or we will send you the PDF file directly on request. Please inspect the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.Service:On inspection this unit worked, just with some inconsistent controls, so it went to our tech for service.All pots and switches were cleaned internally with Specialist Contact Cleaner (proven superior to DeoxIT by our customers), while those with special needs receive the less aggressive DeoxIT F-5. While open, all electrolytic caps were inspected for bulging or leakage and all PC boards were inspected with all questionable solder joints re-flowed. It's this kind of preventative servicing that makes it smart to buy from a company with an experienced, in-house technician. Testing:We set this up on our test bench and it passed with flying colors! It powered right up, pumping out a clear, distortion-free audio from all channels with no hum or buzz! All front & rear panel controls and features work correctly. All inputs and outputs have been confirmed working. The manual has gone missing but no worries, it can be found online (unfortunately eBay no longer allows us to provide a link in the listing).
