Description: This Post Office Door was made by Federal Equipment circa 1906. It's a true antique. It's made of cast bronze and features a prominent U S. It's opened with a 3 digit combination which is taped to the bottom of the bank. There is a coin slot in the top and the bank is about 5 inches wide, 6 inches high and 4 1/4 inches deep. It's a perfect gift for anyone, any age. Teach a child to save. Help an adult relive their past. The door is made of bronze. All of the doors I use in these banks had many years of service in a Post Office. Like this one many of them are over 100 years old. I've rebuilt them, cleaned off the grime and got the locks working smoothly. They are true works of art deco. I use number decals that were surplused from the Post Office to put the numbers in the windows. Like with most of the wood I use this wood is reclaimed. A friend's family homesteaded here in central Oregon around 1920. The land is still owned by the family. They raised cattle there for maybe 70 years. It's now used as sort of a family vacation spot. I've heard Christmases there are special. Several of the oldest building have lived their useful life. He took me out to the remote property (still no electricity or cell service - water from a spring etc.) and invited me to salvage any barn wood I thought I could use. This bank is made of the wood from one of those buildings. The weathering really documents its age. I hope you enjoy it. It tells a story!
