Description: LUXMAN PD-300 PD300 Turntable No Tonearm and No Vacuum Sealing Mat Vtg --- There are 88 PHOTOS in this listing --- MISSING the SEALING MAT for the platter (I couldn't get the vacuum system to function, NOTE the outer rubber sealing rim on the platter has small cracks around about 1/2 of the circumference, also NOTE that the pilot light by the front pump lever does not work, the lever itself feels right in terms of resistance and how it sounds, however I can't determine if it is actually sucking air out through the two vacuum holes in the channel on the platter). NO TONEARM (I'm not sure what the mounting plate fits, the plate does include the retainer ring and machine screws for mounting). ALSO NOTE that the COVER FOR THE brass belt drive spindle is missing. Otherwise the mechanical belt drive system is working with no issues. The strobe is working as are the speed adjustment dials for both speeds (located under the front of the plinth, the rocker switch is a master power switch). In the video you may notice that on the 45 rpm setting the strobe is drifting, I later double checked both speed controls and stabilized the 45 rpm strobe. --- The acrylic cover has dulled from finish wear (fine cleaning scratches, see the photo shot through the cover with the platter behind it, you can see how it looks dull and blurred). --- There is some finish chipping on the wood plinth corners and edges as shown. --- NOTED a tiny or small nick on the inner rim edge on the platter (look for the close-ups of that in the photos). --- I didn't do any cleaning. You can see some discoloring present around the platter rim edges (not sure what that is from, I don't see evidence this was owned by a smoker). You can see fingerprint smudges around the sides of the platter, I'm assuming these are oxidized (they're likely not just going to wipe off but may require some kind of polishing), you can also see some smudging and residue around the platter sides from the belt and also on the brass drive spindle. The top aluminum deck has various smudges etc. --- The lettering on the top deck in the front left corner has some loss/wear. --- The tonearm mounting plate has scratches and other finish mars on both sides from prior mounting. --- I found a nick or tear into the insulating foam wall in the tone arm mount cavity (see the photos, I just mention it because I saw it). --- No cracks to the acrylic cover, no cracks around the two cover hinges. --- NOTE that this originally shipped with 3 screws installed that locked the wood plinth to the cast aluminum sub chassis, you can see the three holes for these with the platter removed. These screws are not present and I don't have a practical way to determine diameter and thread pitch (they look like they were around 1/4" across). In their absence the design of the suspension provides a way to tighten the wood plinth to the sub-chassis, on the bottom of the plinth there are 3 plastic knobs that tighten or loosen the spring load tension between the plinth and the sub-chassis, you can see on the top when the platter is removed they are capped with an end nut and each is located right next to where the original locking screw holes are located. I tightened these down and found that they do indeed lock the plinth to the sub-chassis with only a tiny amount of under tension play (maybe 1mm, nothing is "loose", you can just slightly press down for example on the sub chassis where the tonearm mount plate is located. --- I've shipped a fair number of turntables over the last two decades, each is a unique challenge when the original packing is not present, I shipped my own VPI Aries II which had been my last trip down the rabbit hole. The table will be packed as follows, the basic arrangement is that the platter is packed off the plinth and underneath the main plinth/turntable, above that will be the plinth and then above that will be the dust cover removed from the plinth. There will be approx 2" of sheet foam between each of these three sections, 2" between the platter and underside of the plinth, 2" between the deck of the plinth and the bottom edge of the dust cover. All three sections of the package will also be isolated by vertical sheet foam edge bracing to prevent any risk of crushing between the sections (for example, if the package is tossed onto the concrete upside down, the mass/weight of the platter and turntable above it will not damage the dust cover). There will be a minimum of 2" on each face/side of the shipping box. All of this will be custom built from new double faced semi--rigid sheet foam (the type used to insulate concrete walls, the crumbly type and not the really hard type). My standard is that the package should be able to handle drops or falls to concrete any number of times during transit without concern.
