Description: Name: Kainops raymondi Age: Lower Devonian Formation: Haragan Formation Location: Coal County, Oklahoma Size: Trilobite is 1.35 inches long! This is a very nice specimen of Kainops raymondi from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. This classic trilobite was found by Steve Hess in 1999 when he lived just a few miles from the dig site. This type of trilobite is differentiated from Paciphacops by the larger number of facets in the eyes. This distinct specimen is large and very well preserved. The colorful bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The granulose glabella is nicely displayed, and the compound eyes of the trilobite are quite evident. The thick-shelled, caramel-colored trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored matrix. The prone bug is well showcased on the large, sculpted block of marlstone. This is an excellent example of this large-eyed Phacopid trilobite from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma.A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this item.
