Description: A large signed Carl Radke silver lustre blue/turquoise murrini art glass shell. According to Carl himself It was made in the mid to late 1980's. And it is one of only a few of this unusual color made by him. As you can see from the pictures this shell is made from several layers of glass with the Murrini glass beads and lustre silver. Carl Radke is a glass blower that brought back Lustre Art Glass from the 1920's. Lustre Glass is a very specialized glassblowing medium. And because of the silver used is a very costly art form to produce. It measures approximately 8 x 6 x 5. This vintage item is in excellent condition. The several “flea bites” along the inner rim are the attributes of this sculpture that come from holding and moving the object while manufacturing, and are not defects - I provided close-ups of two of them. This shell is twice as large as his usual shells. Shells like this one are not made by him any longer because of the cost and difficulty of production. This shell is gorgeous and is highly collectible.
