Description: Circa 1869 GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN GRAB CORNERS Stereoview! The stereoview shows Grab Corners, now Campau Square, before the "S curve" leading from Monroe Avenue to Canal Street was straightened. The three story building with the large "Clothing" sign, the one to the right, and the Auction building were all demolished in 1873 to allow for a better meeting of Monroe, Pearl and Canal Streets. Sweet's Hotel, at the corner of Canal and Pearl is the large building seen behind the Auction House and the Clothing Store. The First National Bank was housed in Sweet's Hotel. A small portion of the Rathbun Hotel can be seen at the far left. The Streetcar tracks visible in the street indicate that the photograph was taken after 1865. Also visible "Hats Caps & Furs" ... Barber Sign, Barber Poles ... Kalamazoo Views, Schuyler C. Baldwin, Kalamazoo Michigan on backside. Scuffs, Sctatches, Stains, Corner Bends, Writing on Back, Additional Wear - Please View Photos to Determine Your Opinion Regarding Condition. ****SIGNATURE REQUIRED WHEN RECEIVED**** Great Addition to Any Collection!
