(The Original Broadway production opened January 26th, 1988 at the Majestic Theatre in New York City and has announced a February 18th, 2023 closing after 13,765 performances. It is, by over 3,500 performances, the longest-running show in Broadway history.) ..... The Las Vegas run began June 12th, 2006 with the show playing ten performances a week and ended on September 2nd, 2012 after 2691 performances.
