Description: These are genuine US military surplus ammunition cans, M2A2. May have printed on the side any of the following: .50 Cal, 9mm, 5.56, .45, 7.62, any other designation, or nothing at all. These cans are an improvement over the M1A1 because of a lid support which prevents the seal from being compromised or crushed when weight is added to the top as when stacking. Made in U.S.A. Made to strict military specs and tested by U.S. troops. These ammo cans feature a carry handle on the top as well as a carry handle on the end face. The hinged lid has a tension clamp latch and a rubber gasket that creates a watertight seal when the can is closed. These cans are originally designed to store ammunition but can be used for a variety of purposes due to their ability to keep out moisture, dirt, sand, and dust. They may have very light to no surface rust and some paint marks on the outside. Military stenciling is still present and visible. Any light minor scuffs, blemishes or paint dings on the outside are from transportation or storage. Rust may be present on the contact friction points, pivot points, or mechanism of the can. The lid locking latch is in excellent condition, the seals are intact with little wear or impression on the sealing surface and the inside of the can is in very good condition with barely noticeable or no surface rust. Less than 10% of the cans that we acquire or resell are rated as Grade 1. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being brand new, we consider these an 8-9. Grade 2 may have surface rust and some paint / pen markings on the outside. Military stenciling may have been painted over to “demilitarize” the can. The lid locking latch and the seal is in very good working condition. The inside of the can is in very good condition with light or no rust. Small dents, dings, scratches may be present. These cans are the most common surplus grade found or sold. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being brand new, we consider these a 6-7. Grade 3 may have surface rust or spray paint present on the outside. Military stenciling may have been painted over to “demilitarize” the can. The lid locking latch is in good serviceable condition and the seal is intact. The inside of the can may have light rust. The can may have dents, dings, scratches, signs of use and have “character” but they have years of use remaining. Cosmetically, a little ugly, but with a little sandpaper and / or paint, these cans become young again. Fair condition cans are cheaper but are still 100% serviceable.
