This was a limited-edition set of commemorative stamps highlighting the most significant people, events, and accomplishments of the 20th century. A page was created for each decade, with the final sheet, the 1990's, issued on January 12, 2000. This 32c stamp features the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In December 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright achieved the first controlled, motorized airplane flight. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 3182g.
