Description: Set of 4. Cambridge Glass Co., Caprice pattern. Scallop shaped 3-footed salt cellars or nut bowls. Each piece is 3 inches diameter. The feet are all different showing that craftsman applied them as hot glass to the basic pressed shape. No chips or cracks. The pieces were made between the 1930' and 1950's. Cambridge "Caprice" is a timeless and elegant pattern created by the Cambridge Glass Company in the 1930s, known for its distinctive flowing, wavy design that gives the glass a rippling, textured appearance. Made from high-quality pressed glass, "Caprice" was produced in a variety of colors, with the most popular being the soft, ethereal moonlight blue. The pattern includes a wide range of items, from dinnerware and serving pieces to decorative vases and candleholders, making it versatile and highly collectible. Its sophisticated design, which reflects the Art Deco and Depression-era aesthetics, has made "Caprice" a favorite among collectors, particularly for its beauty, historical significance, and the way it adds a touch of vintage elegance to any setting. The Cambridge Glass Company, founded in 1901 in Cambridge, Ohio, was a leading American glass manufacturer renowned for its high-quality glassware and innovative designs. Under the leadership of Arthur J. Bennett, Cambridge Glass became famous for its elegant patterns and unique color blends, including the iconic "Caprice," "Rose Point," and "Chantilly" designs. The company produced a wide range of glassware, from dinnerware and stemware to decorative art glass, all known for their clarity, intricate patterns, and luxurious finishes. Despite its success, Cambridge Glass faced challenges in the post-World War II era, leading to its closure in 1958. Today, the company’s glassware remains highly collectible, celebrated for its craftsmanship and enduring beauty, and continues to be cherished by enthusiasts and collectors alike. **** Please note many of the items in my shop are vintage andmost have been gently used or previously displayed.
