From Wikipedia: Francis Van Wyck Mason (November 11, 1901 – August 28, 1978) was an American historian and novelist. He had a long and prolific career as a writer spanning 50 years and including 78 published novels, many of which were best sellers and well received. Mason's writing style was colorful though straightforward. His stories usually involve a heroic gentleman character. This hero may be forced to extreme measures by circumstances, but in the end, is victorious. Based on his own life which involved extensive travel, his stories are usually either set in exotic locations, as in the Hugh North stories, or involve main characters who are traveling extensively. From the dust jacket description: CUTLASS EMPIRE begins with Morgan’s flight from Cromwell’s England and his arrival as a castaway on the shores of a Caribbean island. It was here Morgan’s hatred of the Spaniards was born when he saw Kate Pyne tortured and raped and his castaway companions murdered. Years later, as a great buccaneer captain, he was still exacting vengeance for those deeds, sweeping the western seas of Spanish ships and sacking Spanish towns. A bright thread, woven among the thrilling accounts of Morgan’s brilliant battles, is the story of his great loves—Carlotta, a rebellious daughter of a Spanish admiral, who twice deceived and once tried to kill him, yet loved him fiercely; Mary Elizabeth, who built him a great fortune; and Clarissa, whose seduction saved his love. There were many more—Morgan’s zest for beautiful women equaled his hatred of the Spaniards. BECAUSE MEDIA RATE SHIPPING IS FREE ON THE BOOKS I SELL, COMBINE THIS WITH OTHER ITEMS FROM MY EBAY STORE.
