Description: UNIQUE J.D.K. KESTNER ALPHABET MOLD SERIES! Absolutely Beautiful! AUTHENTIC ca. 1897 - 1908 28" Tall J.D.K. KESTNER German Child Doll Mold #146 The Doll's Marking: Incised German doll mark on the back of her bisque socket head is: Made in L Germany 15 146 There is red ink stamp on the lower back, reads: Germany and number 6. In 1897 J.D. Kestner's company registered the famous Kestner Alphabet mold series. Doll’s with the alphabet series normally have the alphabet letter on the left and the size number on the right with the words “Made in Germany” in the middle. The letter always followed a particular size. The L doll was always a 15. The L½ was always a 15½. According to different doll books such as Cieslik’s German Doll Encyclopedia, the L and the 15 always went together. Featuring: Perfect Bisque Socket Head, Distinguished Kestner Thick Eyebrows, Dark Brown Glass Sleep Eyes, Painted Upper and Lower Lashes, Pouty Rosy Blushed Cheeks, Lightly Dimpled Double Chin, A slightly smiling open mouth with outlined lips, Four upper teeth, A Dimple on her Accented red nostrils, Nicely formed ears. Plaster Pate. Blond mohair wig (#12, not original) She's on her antique fully articulated ball-jointed earlier papier-mache or composition body with movement at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. Lightly well drawn red lines outline the features of her fingernails and toes. She is wearing definitely not original, but very cute likely vintage clothes, as pictured. Measurements approximately: 28" tall without pate, and 14" - circumference of her head Condition Report: AS PICTURED. The bisque head has no chips, hairlines or restoration. The glass eyes are open and close as should be. The composition body has wear to the finish, with some not major soiling, wear, scratching, some points of tiny clipped off and rubbed off paint mainly around the neck and joints, typical and to be expected. The stringing is very loose, does not stand, but is keeping pose in sitting position. The joints have some typical and expected wear. All of her fingers and toes are intact. There is a dent in the center of her plaster pate. We intentionally didn't clean this doll to represent it in its original antique condition. Please, note: different monitors may represent some difference in colors or shades. Please, read description, examine and enlarge all photos and ask any questions you may have before buying. The doll will be shipped properly wrapped with her head stuffed inside with soft cotton tissue to prevent eye mechanism movement within transit.
