Description: Blue Pearline “Lords and Ladies” pressed glass from Victorian era 1896 made by George Davidson & Co in England. This footed compote pedestal bowl or open candy dish is in amazing condition for its age, I love the star-like design, so very pretty in real life. There’s a registration number Rd285342 marked on the inside registered October 2, 1896. The Pearline color combination of a white opalescent edge on turquoise blue glass was almost unique to Davidson's. The number is the British registration number of that particular pattern, and identifies the manufacturer and the date of registration. About 4.25 inches tall and 7” wide at top and 3.5” diameter foot. There are no chips or cracks but you can feel the original seams in the pressed glass and under the bowl and foot several smallest dings in glass ridges from bumping around the last 128 years of this beauty’s life! As-is. See photos. Please ask questions. Pearline glass reacted to heat by turning white on the parts exposed to heat during the cooling process, a reaction caused by the chemicals mixed into the glass. It was extremely popular in the 1890's and is very collectible today. Hard to find in this style and condition. Could use a tiny bit of cleaning in crevices but leaving that to you, the new caretaker owner. Purchased from a California estate auction. (I’m not an expert but Google is my friend!)
