The Memorial of Saint Helena is a journal-memoir of the beginning of Napoleon Bonaparte's exile on Saint Helena and the work transcribed Las Cases' near daily conversations with the former Emperor on his life, career, political philosophy and the conditions of his exile. Provenance of Theophile Papin Jr. (1857-1916) a St. Louis, Missouri, real estate man known as the “squire of debutantes” because of the large number of young women who made their debut into society under his auspices. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said of him, “Papin was regarded as one of the best-educated men in St. Louis. He was a linguist, a lover of rare book and collector of valuable paintings.” COLH1842BJKX-823
